Showtime’s The Chi returns to television

Showtime’s acclaimed drama series, The Chi, is set to return for its seventh season on May 16, 2025. Subscribers to Paramount+ with Showtime can access the premiere on this date, while traditional Showtime cable viewers can tune in two days later on May 18. 

Created by Lena Waithe, The Chi delves into the interconnected lives of residents on Chicago’s South Side, exploring themes of community, family, and personal struggle. Since its debut in 2018, the series has garnered praise for its authentic storytelling and complex characters.

The upcoming season will see the return of key cast members:

• Jacob Latimore as Emmett Washington

• Yolonda Ross as Jada Washington

• Shamon Brown Jr. as Stanley “Papa” Jackson

• Michael V. Epps as Jake Taylor

• Birgundi Baker as Kiesha Williams

• Luke James as Victor “Trig” Taylor

• Lynn Whitfield as Alicia

Notably, this season marks the first without Alex R. Hibbert’s character, Kevin, signaling significant narrative shifts. 

Production for Season 7 commenced in May 2024 in Chicago and concluded in October 2024.  While specific plot details remain under wraps, fans can anticipate the series’ signature blend of poignant storytelling and character-driven drama.
